ARK Invest Forecasts Tesla Shift to Robotaxi Service Model
ARK Invest predicts Tesla will transition from vehicle sales to a recurring revenue robotaxi service, citing lower operating costs than Waymo.
ARK Invest forecasts that Tesla will shift its primary business model from one-off vehicle sales to an annualized recurring revenue service driven by robotaxis. Tasha Keeney, Director of Investment Analysis at the firm, asserts that Tesla is positioned to scale autonomy through vertical integration.
Analysis from the firm estimates that the CyberCab is approximately 40% cheaper to operate than the next-generation vehicle from Waymo. This outlook follows a Tesla safety report claiming 3 million autonomous miles completed with zero accidents.
Keeney also highlighted a potential merger between Tesla and Space Exploration Technologies Corp. While such a move would require shareholder approval, it could create synergies in compute through the TeraFab project and provide the cash flow needed for AI ambitions at SpaceX. The two companies currently collaborate on engineering for the next-generation Roadster and the integration of SpaceX connectivity into the CyberCab.
