Ubisoft Closes RedLynx Studio and Cuts Global Workforce

Ubisoft is closing its RedLynx studio in Finland and cutting jobs in Singapore and Germany to reduce costs following a 1.5 billion euro net loss.

Ubisoft is implementing a global cost-reduction initiative and restructuring into a Creative Houses operating model following a net loss of 1.5 billion euros for the 2025-26 financial year. The company aims to achieve at least 200 million euros in spending cuts over two years, adding to 300 million euros in previously targeted savings.

As part of this final phase, the company proposed the closure of RedLynx, the Helsinki-based developer of the Trials franchise, which would affect up to 52 positions. In Singapore, the company eliminated 70 positions—roughly 20% of the studio's workforce—to align with production needs. Additionally, Ubisoft proposed a voluntary departure plan in Germany that could affect approximately 100 employees across studios in Berlin, Mainz, and Düsseldorf, with the majority of cuts expected in Düsseldorf.

These actions follow the cancellation of six games and the closure of studios in Belgrade, Halifax, Stockholm, and Winnipeg earlier this year. To support affected staff in Singapore, the company is collaborating with the Skills & Workforce Development Agency and the Employment & Employability Institute. The Creative Media and Publishing Union is also providing career guidance and job-matching assistance to its members.
