Tesco Hires 30,000 Temporary Workers for Christmas Season

Tesco is recruiting over 28,000 temporary staff in the United Kingdom and 1,725 in Ireland to manage peak seasonal demand during the Christmas period.

The Tesco Group has launched a large-scale festive recruitment drive to manage peak seasonal demand across the United Kingdom and Ireland. In the United Kingdom, the retailer is hiring more than 28,000 temporary workers for in-store customer service and online order picking roles at Superstores and Extra branches. In Ireland, the company is creating 1,725 festive jobs, which includes 182 temporary roles in Cork and represents an increase of over 600 positions from the previous year.

UK hourly pay starts at £13.28, rising to £14.55 for locations within the M25 boundary, with an additional £2.35 per hour premium for night shifts. To lower barriers to entry, the company is not requiring CVs or prior retail experience for UK applicants. These roles offer flexible shifts and the possibility of transitioning into permanent employment.

Successful candidates in Ireland will join the company across three start dates in November and work through the end of December. Applications for UK positions are being accepted online through the company's careers website, with further vacancies expected throughout October.
