Shane Ryan Lists Castleton Equestrian Estate for $57.5 Million

Shane Ryan has listed the historic 951-acre Castleton equestrian estate in Lexington, Kentucky, for $57.5 million.

Shane Ryan, son of late Ryanair cofounder Tony Ryan, has listed the 951-acre Castleton equestrian estate in Lexington, Kentucky, for €49.9 million ($57.5 million). The historic property dates back to 1793 and features a Greek Revival-style mansion, 10 homes, 16 barns, and 268 stables.

Tony Ryan purchased the farm in 2001 for $14 million, and Shane Ryan has operated the horse-breeding business since his father's death in 2007. Ryan stated, "We have been the sixth stewards of this historic farm," but decided to sell because he spends more time in Europe and his children lack interest in horses.

Bluegrass Sotheby’s International Realty is acting as the selling agent. If the estate does not sell on the open market, it will be auctioned on October 28 at the invitation-only Keeneland Championship Sale.
