Meta Global Affairs Chief Joel Kaplan to Depart Company
Joel Kaplan will leave Meta Platforms next year after 15 years of service, with Dina Powell McCormick assuming responsibility for external affairs.
Joel Kaplan, Meta Platforms' chief global affairs officer, will leave the company next year. His departure is scheduled to follow a transition period and the November 3 midterm elections, ending a 15-year tenure with the social media giant.
A longtime Republican strategist and former deputy chief of staff for George W. Bush, Kaplan is credited with repairing the relationship between Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg and Donald Trump following the January 6 riot. During his time at the company, he oversaw the response to the Cambridge Analytica scandal and the termination of the company's US fact-checking program.
Dina Powell McCormick, President and Vice Chairman, will assume responsibility for external affairs. Other Meta executives will also share the responsibilities previously held by Kaplan.
