Swiggy CEO Prioritizes Product Quality Over Discounting in Quick Commerce

Swiggy Group CEO Sriharsha Majety is shifting Instamart's strategy toward unit economics and product differentiation to compete with Blinkit, Zepto, and Flipkart.

Group CEO Sriharsha Majety announced in the company's 2025-26 Annual Report that Swiggy will prioritize execution, assortment, and a distinctive product offering over discounting to win the quick commerce market. This strategy aims to move away from pursuing volume at any cost, focusing instead on sustainable growth in a sector Majety expects will continue to attract capital and competition.

Swiggy is evolving its 10-minute delivery unit, Instamart, by shifting from rapid dark store expansion toward optimizing existing assets and improving unit economics to reduce losses. The company is positioning Instamart as an "everything store" to increase wallet share. These efforts coincide with strong financial growth; during FY26, Instamart's gross order value rose 94.1 percent to Rs 28,496 crore, while the average order value climbed to Rs 691.

These strategic pivots come as Swiggy faces intensifying pressure from competitors Blinkit and Zepto. Additionally, the Flipkart Group is scaling its Minutes service and preparing to enter the food delivery market, further crowding the competitive landscape.
