Fauci Instructed Aide to Delete Emails on Viral Research

Anthony Fauci instructed an aide to permanently delete emails regarding gain-of-function research, contradicting his sworn testimony about public record preservation.

Documents obtained by the Daily Caller News Foundation reveal that Anthony Fauci, former director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, instructed an aide to permanently delete an email exchange from 2012. The correspondence concerned gain-of-function research and warnings from journalist Phil Boffey, who argued that NIH-funded studies into airborne bird flu created an engineered doomsday risk.

Fauci had previously pushed to publish the results of experiments conducted by Dutch virologist Ron Fouchier, despite warnings from biosecurity advisors that the data could assist bioterrorists. These findings suggest a violation of federal record-keeping laws and contradict sworn testimony Fauci provided in 2024, in which he stated he never destroyed public records.

The documents further indicate that Fouchier and Fauci later collaborated to downplay the possibility of a laboratory origin for COVID-19. Fouchier reportedly ghostwrote arguments for the Proximal Origin of SARS-CoV-2 paper to prevent biosafety debates from obstructing future research efforts.
