BNY Deploys 400 AI Agents via Eliza Platform

BNY has deployed 400 AI agents through its Eliza platform and denied that artificial intelligence is driving recent reductions in its global headcount.

The CFO of BNY detailed the firm's artificial intelligence strategy during a visit to Hong Kong, describing a philosophy of "AI for everyone, for everything, for everywhere." Over the last three years, the company has integrated AI into its operations using Eliza, a model-agnostic platform that has already deployed 400 agents into production.

Addressing concerns over workforce stability, the CFO rejected claims that AI is being used to drive job cuts. While the firm's global headcount decreased from 52,000 to between 46,000 and 47,000 over a three-year period, the executive attributed this decline to general operational improvements. The company is instead prioritizing the integration of AI-proficient university graduates and the upskilling of current employees.

Regarding security, the CFO acknowledged that AI increases cyber risks. He stated that the firm has invested heavily in defensive strategies and safeguards to maintain resiliency against these emerging threats.
