Gatwick Airport Launches UK First Robotic Parking Service

Gatwick Airport will become the first airport in the United Kingdom to implement a robotic parking service, scheduled for launch in August 2026. Operating at the South Terminal, the system is developed in partnership with Stanley Robotics to address parking capacity challenges as the airport expands.

Under the new system, passengers leave their vehicles in dedicated private cabins and keep their keys. Robots then lift the cars by the tires to transport them to secure parking spaces. Upon the traveler's return, the service uses flight details to return the vehicles to the cabins for collection.

The technology is compatible with approximately 95% of car models, though the airport advises owners of vehicles with unusual dimensions to verify compatibility. Airport and technology officials describe the initiative as a means to streamline the passenger journey and reduce the friction associated with traditional parking.
