Ademola Adeleke Wins Re-election and Launches Election Victim Fund

Governor Ademola Adeleke secured a second term in Osun State and announced a N500 million endowment fund to support victims of electoral violence.

The Independent National Electoral Commission presented the Certificate of Return to Ademola Adeleke and Deputy Governor Kola Adewusi in Osogbo on August 19, formally confirming Adeleke's re-election. Adeleke won the August 15 governorship election with 511,067 votes, defeating All Progressives Congress candidate Bola Oyebamiji, who received 444,815 votes.

During the ceremony, Governor Adeleke announced the establishment of a N500 million Election Violence Victims Endowment Fund to support verified victims regardless of political affiliation. Additionally, the Adeleke family will provide full university scholarships for the children and dependents of those killed during the election through the Springtime Development Foundation. Speaker Adewale Olumide Egbedun will lead a Verification and Relief Committee to oversee the distribution of these resources.

Following the certification, the Ifelodun Community of Agunbelewo issued a statement congratulating the governor, noting he won all polling units in their area. While praising the administration, the community petitioned the governor to rehabilitate major roads and install solar-powered streetlights to improve local security and economic activity.

On August 21, Governor Adeleke called for state unity and reconciliation via a statement on X. He urged residents to heal from political divisions and move past the pain of electoral violence to focus on collective progress, characterizing his victory as a mandate belonging to all citizens of Osun State.
