General Mills Considers Selling International Haagen-Dazs Operations
General Mills is exploring the separation and potential sale of its Haagen-Dazs ice cream operations outside of North America.
General Mills is considering the separation of its Haagen-Dazs ice cream brand operations outside of North America, a move that may lead to a sale. While the company owns and operates the brand in international markets, the business is managed within the United States by Froneri, a joint venture owned equally by Nestle and PAI Partners. Froneri is viewed as a logical buyer for the international assets.
This potential divestment follows a June agreement in which General Mills sold its Haagen-Dazs shops in mainland China to a group led by tea chain operator Ningji. The strategic shift comes as consumer goods companies reshape their portfolios to manage rising transport and raw material costs.
Industry trends are also driving the decision, as companies respond to a consumer shift toward healthier eating habits influenced by the rise of weight-loss drugs.
