Arab League Convenes Emergency Session on Palestinian Protection
The League of Arab States held an extraordinary session in Cairo to discuss international protection for Palestinians and the legal status of Jerusalem.
The League of Arab States convened an extraordinary session of its Council in Cairo on Tuesday to establish mechanisms for the international protection of the Palestinian people. The meeting followed a formal request from the State of Palestine, which cited escalating attacks by Israeli forces and armed settlers against Palestinians and their property.
During the proceedings, participants characterized the violence as part of a systematic policy by the Israeli government to expand colonial settlements, depopulate Palestinian communities, and undermine the two-state solution. The session also addressed the international legal status of Jerusalem, specifically expressing concern over the establishment of foreign embassies in the city.
The session included participation from the Government of Qatar, represented by a delegation led by Amna Abdulrahman Al Sulaiti. The discussions focused on curbing violence and ensuring respect for international law regarding the occupied territories.
