Abdul El-Sayed Defends Outreach to Streamer Hasan Piker

Michigan Democratic Senate candidate Abdul El-Sayed defended his decision to engage with far-left streamer Hasan Piker during an appearance on NBC's "Meet the Press." When questioned about Piker's claims that the United States deserved the September 11 attacks and that Hamas is a "lesser evil" than Israel, El-Sayed called the 9/11 comment a "dumb statement." He argued that he is more concerned with reaching Piker's audience of three million people than with Piker's specific remarks, emphasizing the need to build a coalition to defeat opponent Mike Rogers through discussions on Medicare for All and campaign finance reform.

In a separate interview with Rolling Stone Magazine, Piker defended his assertion that Hamas is "a thousand times better" than Israel, describing his rhetoric as "intentionally provocative" to force viewers to consider the Palestinian perspective. Piker stated that Palestinians have a right to resist militarily, although he acknowledged he does not agree with all of Hamas's actions and has called out their war crimes.

The Anti-Defamation League condemned Piker's statements, accusing him of expressing support for a designated terrorist organization. The organization also criticized Democratic officials for failing to distance themselves from the streamer.
