Lucid Recalls 27,185 Air Sedans Over Fire Risk

Lucid Motors is recalling 27,185 Air luxury sedans in the United States after discovering a defect in an exterior lighting circuit. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration warned that the circuit could overheat, increasing the risk of fire and potentially causing a loss of exterior lighting, which could lead to crashes.

As a precaution, the federal agency advised vehicle owners to park their cars outside and away from structures until the defect is resolved. Lucid has responded by deploying an over-the-air software update to fix the issue, which has already been applied to 20,719 vehicles.

This action marks the largest recall in the company's history, with the number of affected vehicles exceeding Lucid's total 2025 delivery volume of 15,841 cars. The company has faced multiple safety challenges this year, including a January recall for rearview camera issues and a May recall concerning the loss of drive power.
