Consumer Goods Giants Warn of 2027 Price Hikes

Major consumer goods companies plan price increases through 2027 to offset rising energy and freight costs driven by the U.S. war on Iran.

Global consumer goods and food companies, including Procter & Gamble, Coca-Cola, Nestle, and Reckitt, have warned that price increases will continue into 2027. Executives state that the U.S. war on Iran has driven up energy, raw material, and freight costs, squeezing profit margins and forcing companies to use pricing as the primary tool to recover expenses.

Procter & Gamble has already increased its expected profit hit from these rising costs to $1.4 billion. Other firms, such as Nestle and PepsiCo, are attempting to balance price hikes with volume growth to avoid damaging long-term consumer penetration. Reckitt has already trimmed its annual revenue forecast due to these commodity and input pressures.

These cost increases arrive as consumers in North America and Europe face significant financial strain, resulting in sluggish sales for name-brand packaged foods. Analysts expect the rising cost of everyday items to fuel persistent inflation and potentially influence the upcoming U.S. midterm elections.
