Black Voters Matter Launches We Got Us Georgia Tour
Black Voters Matter launched the We Got Us campaign and bus tour to mobilize rural and urban Georgia voters ahead of the midterm elections.
Black Voters Matter and its partners launched the We Got Us campaign and bus tour on October 31 to mobilize voters across Georgia for the midterm elections. The initiative utilizes community canvassing, rallies, caravans, and block parties to target rural towns and cities, including Valdosta, Savannah, Albany, and Atlanta.
On November 1, volunteers conducted door-to-door outreach in Americus to encourage turnout. The organization describes voting in this cycle as an "act of resistance," citing concerns over stricter voter ID laws, poll closures, threats to mail-in voting, and the possible deployment of federal agents to polling precincts.
Mobilization efforts continue through Tuesday with scheduled stops in Decatur, Rincon, and Atlanta. Local leaders in Americus supported the outreach, emphasizing the importance of community engagement to bring about change in areas outside of Atlanta.
