Ontario Schedules 49 Highway Closures Across Peel and Durham

The Province of Ontario has scheduled extensive highway roadwork for September 15, 2026, resulting in 49 lane closures across the Peel and Durham regions. These projects are expected to cause significant traffic delays throughout the affected areas.

In the Peel region, 18 closures will impact major routes including Highway 401, Highway 403, Highway 410, Highway 10, Highway 9, and the Queen Elizabeth Way. These restrictions affect commuters in Brampton, Mississauga, Caledon, and Oakville.

Durham region faces 31 scheduled closures across Oshawa, Ajax, Pickering, Whitby, Clarington, Port Perry, and Port Hope. Impacted routes include Highway 401, Highway 407 ETR, Highway 412, Highway 7A, Highway 35/115, and Highway 12. While most closures across both regions are nightly alternating lane restrictions, some projects in Durham are designated as daily closures.
