APC Alleges Accord Party Hit Squad Killed Campaign Aide's Nephew

The All Progressives Congress accuses the Accord Party of assassinating Dele Ayegbo to intimidate voters ahead of the August 15 governorship election in Osun State.

The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Osun State alleges that a hit squad from the Accord Party assassinated Dele Ayegbo on Wednesday night. Ayegbo, the nephew of APC campaign Director-General Wole Oke, was gunned down by individuals in a vehicle at a road junction near his residence in the Idofin area of Esa-Oke. A second APC member was wounded during the attack and is currently hospitalized.

APC spokesperson Kola Olabisi stated the killing was intended to scare supporters from voting in the governorship election scheduled for August 15. Olabisi claimed that political thugs have killed over 30 APC members since 2022, including 17 deaths in Ijesaland. He further accused the state's chief security officer of failing to condemn these extra-judicial killings.

The Osun State Police Command has not officially confirmed the incident. The APC has called for an urgent police investigation to ensure fairness and justice for the victim.
