Russian Guided Bombs Kill Three Civilians in Sumy

Russian forces launched eight guided aerial bombs at the northeastern Ukrainian city of Sumy on Tuesday morning. The attack killed three civilians, identified as an elderly woman and two girls aged 5 and 10, who were recovered from the rubble of a destroyed private home.

Oleh Hryhorov, the governor of the Sumy region, reported that four bombs struck private homes and civilian infrastructure in the Kovpakivskyi district, while Ukrainian air defenses intercepted two others. Four additional people required medical treatment following the strikes.

This incident is part of a recurring pattern of aggression in the region, following attacks on July 28, July 31, and a six-bomb strike two days prior. While Ukrainian officials describe guided aerial bombs as highly destructive, Russian military bloggers claim that Ukrainian electronic warfare systems are beginning to reduce the effectiveness of these weapons.
