Erbil International Airport Suspends Flights After Drone Attacks

Erbil International Airport suspended all inbound and outbound flights on Tuesday evening following a series of drone attacks targeting the city and its airspace. Iraqi air defense systems intercepted three suicide drones over Erbil, though the interceptions triggered powerful explosions across the city.

Ahmed Hoshyar, the Airport Director, announced the temporary halt in flight operations due to the deteriorating security situation. He stated that service would resume once authorities determine it is safe to restore normal operations.

While air defenses prevented the drones from reaching their intended targets, the event has intensified security concerns in Iraq's Kurdistan region amid a renewed wave of cross-border attacks.
