India and Kiribati Expand Ties With New Dialysis Centre

The Government of India and the Government of Kiribati held a series of high-level diplomatic meetings in South Tarawa on September 1 and 2 to strengthen bilateral cooperation. Indian High Commissioner Suneet Mehta met with senior Kiribati officials, including Secretary Teinarinki Tanielu and ministers overseeing culture, internal affairs, environment, and regional development, to advance shared priorities.

Discussions focused on inclusive and sustainable development, specifically targeting trade, entrepreneurship, and the coconut and copra industries. The two nations also explored economic collaboration in digitalization, infrastructure, and capacity-building initiatives. These talks build upon previous meetings held in June that emphasized cooperation in multilateral forums.

As a concrete result of this partnership, Suneet Mehta inspected a new Dialysis Centre in Kiribati. The facility is being established with financial assistance from the Government of India to improve local access to quality medical services and healthcare infrastructure.
