Republican Michael Alfonso Wins Wisconsin 7th District Seat

Republican Michael Alfonso won the election for Wisconsin's 7th Congressional District, becoming the youngest member of Congress at age 26.

Republican Michael Alfonso won the election for Wisconsin's 7th Congressional District on Tuesday, defeating Democratic challenger and former state lawmaker Fred Clark. At 26 years old, Alfonso will become the youngest member of Congress when he takes office in January. He succeeds Representative Tom Tiffany, who declined to seek re-election to run for governor of Wisconsin.

Alfonso, an accountant for the Diocese of Superior with a background in construction, campaigned on reducing healthcare costs, affordability, and restoring the American Dream. He also pledged to introduce legislation restricting transgender women and girls from women's facilities under Title IX. The seat was previously held by Alfonso's father-in-law, Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy.

Despite receiving endorsements from President Donald Trump and Sean Duffy, Alfonso faced primary criticism regarding nepotism and his lack of political experience. He countered these claims by arguing that veteran politicians have failed to deliver results for the American people.
