German DAX Rises as Oil Prices and Bond Yields Fall
German stocks climbed Thursday driven by falling oil prices and lower bond yields following a Federal Reserve interest rate hike.
The benchmark DAX rose to 25,670.46 on Thursday, supported by a decline in bond yields and falling oil prices. The shift in yields followed a 25 basis point interest rate hike by the Federal Reserve System on Wednesday. Brent crude futures dropped approximately 2.2% to $103.50 a barrel amid reports of additional Saudi crude cargoes moving through Oman.
Corporate performance was mixed across the index. Siemens Energy and BMW recorded gains, and Bayer shares rose after the U.S. Food and Drug Administration approved the drug Kerendia for adults with type-1 diabetes and chronic kidney disease. Conversely, shares of industrial services provider Bilfinger plummeted nearly 21% after the company reduced its revenue outlook for 2026.
In broader economic news, Eurostat reported that August inflation in the Eurozone rose to 3.2%. This figure represents a downward revision from the initial flash estimate of 3.3%.
