Meta Launches Muse AI Agent for Personal Task Automation

Meta released Muse, an AI personal agent capable of managing calendars, paying bills, and making reservations to automate daily administrative tasks.

Meta launched Muse, a new AI personal agent designed to automate a variety of administrative tasks, including filling out forms, organizing calendars, paying bills, and making reservations. The company describes the tool as being "built for everyone."

The release comes as reports emerge of AI agents hacking businesses and government websites. Additionally, some experts have raised concerns regarding the psychological impact of such automation. Psychologist Carly Dober warned that overreliance on large language models and AI agents leads to cognitive offloading, a process where the brain avoids the mental effort necessary to build deep neural connections.

Dober argued that automation bias and complacency can atrophy neurological skills and reduce cognitive reserve. To mitigate these risks, she suggested introducing friction into daily routines, such as limiting AI use to desktop computers, delaying queries by 30 minutes, and scheduling dedicated screen-free hours.
