Saudi Arabia Appoints Retired Major General as Ambassador to Pakistan

The Government of Saudi Arabia appointed Rajeh Tami Albugamy, a retired Major General and Ph.D. holder, as its new Ambassador to Pakistan. Dr. Albugamy took the oath of office before Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman al Saud on Tuesday, succeeding Nawaf bin Said Al-Malki.

The appointment comes as Saudi Arabia and Pakistan deepen ties through a Strategic Mutual Defense Agreement and expanded economic cooperation aligned with the Vision 2030 strategy. The selection of a former senior military officer indicates that defense cooperation remains a central priority, particularly as Pakistan has deployed military assets to Saudi Arabia this year.

Beyond security, the Kingdom continues to provide financial support to the central bank of Pakistan to stabilize its economy. Saudi Arabia has also increased investments in Pakistani infrastructure, energy, and trade.
