Japan Defence Minister Shinjiro Koizumi Plans August India Visit
Japanese Defence Minister Shinjiro Koizumi will visit India in August to discuss military exercises, regional security, and defence technology exports.
Japanese Defence Minister Shinjiro Koizumi plans to visit India in August for talks with Indian Defence Minister Rajnath Singh. The visit marks Koizumi's first trip to India since assuming office in October last year and will focus on expanding joint military exercises, regional security in the Indo-Pacific, and the potential export of Japan's Unicorn communication antenna system.
This diplomatic effort follows the 8th Defence Policy Dialogue held in Tokyo on July 13. During that meeting, Indian Defence Secretary Rajesh Kumar Singh and Japanese Vice Minister of Defence Kano Koji discussed space, cyber security, and defence industrial collaboration. The discussions emphasized a shared commitment to a free and open Indo-Pacific, specifically regarding the activities of China.
On July 16, Koizumi reaffirmed his commitment to strengthening bilateral ties during a reception hosted by India's Ambassador to Japan, Nagma Mallick. The ongoing engagement between the two nations aims to enhance military-to-military exchanges and institutional interactions across the spectrum of defence cooperation.
