Purvah Green Power Acquires 1.4 GWp Solar Portfolio

Purvah Green Power is acquiring a 1.4 GWp solar portfolio from ReNew Solar Power to expand its renewable energy capacity to 4.8 GWp.

Purvah Green Power, the renewable energy platform of CESC Ltd and a subsidiary of the RP-Sanjiv Goenka Group, is acquiring a 1.4 GWp operating solar portfolio from ReNew Solar Power Private Ltd. The transaction involves six special purpose vehicles located in Rajasthan and Karnataka and is expected to close by October 2026.

Reports on the transaction value vary slightly, with one source citing Rs 4,834 crore and another reporting ₹4,859 crore. The acquisition is funded by the parent company, CESC Limited. More than 90% of the acquired capacity is secured under 25-year power purchase agreements with the Solar Energy Corporation of India, while the remaining capacity is contracted to distribution companies in Karnataka.

This move increases the total contracted renewable capacity of Purvah Green Power from 3.4 GWp to 4.8 GWp, comprising 1.8 GWp of operational assets and 3 GWp currently under construction. The expansion aligns with the broader goal of the RP-Sanjiv Goenka Group to establish a 10 GW renewable energy platform in the coming years.
