Prime Minister Lawrence Wong announced a wide-ranging Cabinet reshuffle on July 22, 2026, to balance experienced leadership with a new generation of government office holders. The transition follows the recent resignations of Faishal Ibrahim and Koh Poh Koon. Most appointments are scheduled to take effect on July 27.

K. Shanmugam becomes Senior Minister while retaining his roles as Coordinating Minister for National Security and Minister for Home Affairs. He is the first official to hold the Senior Minister title without previously serving as prime minister or deputy prime minister. Other promotions include Sim Ann to Second Minister for Home and Foreign Affairs, and the confirmation of Jeffrey Siow and David Neo as full ministers. Jeffrey Siow additionally becomes Second Minister for Finance, while David Neo becomes Second Minister for Education.

Ng Chee Meng, the Secretary-General of the National Trades Union Congress, returns to the Cabinet as minister in the Prime Minister's Office after previously declining a role to focus on parliamentary duties. Additionally, Jasmin Lau was appointed acting minister for manpower.

To reflect the growing importance of energy to economic competitiveness, the Ministry of Trade and Industry will be renamed the Ministry of Energy, Trade and Industry on October 1. Deputy Prime Minister Gan Kim Yong will concurrently serve as minister for trade within the renamed ministry.
