Kerala High Court Upholds FIR Order Against Pinarayi Vijayan
The Kerala High Court dismissed appeals against an order to register an FIR against former Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan over alleged financial irregularities.
The Kerala High Court refused to grant permission to appeal a single-judge order directing the registration of an FIR against Pinarayi Vijayan, his daughter Veena Thaikkandiyil, and her husband Mohammed Riyas. The case centers on alleged financial irregularities involving Exalogic Solutions Private Limited, a company owned by Thaikkandiyil, and Cochin Minerals and Rutile Limited.
A Division Bench ruled that the original judgment did not obstruct the applicants' ability to pursue statutory remedies against the FIR. The Enforcement Directorate opposed the appeals, while the State Vigilance and Anti-Corruption Bureau was ordered to investigate the transactions. Legal representatives for Vijayan are now considering a Special Leave Petition to the Supreme Court.
Following the ruling, BJP state vice-president Shone George demanded that Vijayan resign as Leader of the Opposition, stating he has no moral right to continue in the role.
