Microsoft President Brad Smith to Lead Communications Department

Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella reorganized the company's communications department, appointing President Brad Smith to oversee the function. This shift moves oversight away from Chief Marketing Officer Takeshi Numoto and follows the announcement that Chief Communications Officer Frank Shaw will leave the company at the end of the year.

While a permanent successor for Shaw has not been named, Vice President for Global Public Affairs Brent Colburn will serve as the interim communications leader reporting to Smith.

In an internal memo, Nadella explained that the reorganization aims to better integrate Microsoft's product story, marketing, and communications. The company is implementing these changes as it manages global expansion and addresses challenges regarding data center growth and AI governance.
