India Holds National Seminar to Boost MSME Global Exports

The Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises of India organized a national seminar at the Indian Institute of Technology Madras to improve the export readiness of micro, small, and medium enterprises. Conducted by the MSME Development & Facilitation Office in Chennai, the event focused on leveraging digital commerce, technology, and innovation to help small businesses overcome geographical barriers and access international markets.

Technical sessions provided guidance on import-export compliance, trade finance, risk mitigation, and international payments. The seminar operated under the Procurement & Marketing Support Scheme's capacity-building interventions, specifically educating business owners on e-commerce platforms.

During the event, Praveen Yadav, Additional Chief Secretary of the MSME Department in Tamil Nadu, advocated for convergence between central and state governments to increase competitiveness. Hansraj Verma, Director General of the Council of State Industrial Development & Investment Corporation of India, emphasized that digitalization and quality are essential for market expansion, while Manu Santhanam of IIT Madras highlighted the necessity of academia-industry collaboration for product development.
