Netflix Reports Record India Growth Amid Global Slowdown

Netflix achieved record subscriber growth in India during Q3 2026 but cut 1,000 jobs as global revenue growth hit a three-year low.

Netflix Inc. recorded its largest-ever quarterly increase in paid member additions in India during Q3 2026. This growth was driven by a new loyalty bundle with e-commerce platform Flipkart and a strong content slate, including the reality series Lock Upp, which became the most-watched title in the country. In the Indian market, viewing hours rose 24% year-on-year and revenue grew 18% on a foreign exchange-neutral basis.

Globally, the company reported Q3 revenue of approximately $12.9 billion, an increase of 11.8% to 12% year-over-year. While net income rose 44% to nearly $3.7 billion, this revenue growth represents the slowest pace for the company in nearly three years. Consequently, Netflix lowered its full-year advertising revenue guidance to $2.7 billion.

In response to these mixed results, the company implemented a 6% workforce reduction, laying off 1,000 employees. Netflix also overhauled its leadership, replacing content chief Bela Bajaria with former Disney executive Peter Rice. Co-CEO Ted Sarandos noted that while the overall strategy remains intact, the company requires better execution in the United States, where growth is not meeting internal expectations.
