US Launches Pax Silica Program to Fast-Track AI Trade

The Federal government of the United States launched the Pax Silica initiative to accelerate the shipment of goods critical to artificial intelligence development between the U.S. and its closest trading partners. The program aims to reduce reliance on China for advanced technology materials and secure sensitive intellectual property by replacing traditional record-keeping with AI-assisted tracking.

As part of the initiative, the United States Department of State is committing up to $50 million in foreign assistance funding to establish a pilot platform in Panama. This platform will use AI technology to speed up logistics and compliance operations for high-value cargo, including semiconductors, critical minerals, and AI infrastructure.

The Pax Silica program currently includes approximately two dozen participants, including the European Union, the United Kingdom, India, and the United Arab Emirates.
