Jim Tedisco Proposes New York Laws on Neglect and Utilities

Jim Tedisco, a New York State Senator, introduced two distinct legislative proposals on August 4, 2026. He presented Joycelynn’s Law, which would mandate life sentences for child neglect resulting in death. This proposal follows the death of three-year-old Joycelynn Dylewski.

Tedisco also proposed the Ratepayer Protection Act. This measure seeks to shift the authority for approving utility rate increases from the New York Public Service Commission to elected legislators.
