Firms Launch AI Audits and Insurance for Regulatory Compliance

Accountancy and insurance firms are introducing AI audits and liability coverage to protect businesses from financial penalties and risks associated with artificial intelligence deployment.

Major accountancy firms and insurance providers have introduced specialized AI audits and liability coverage to help organizations manage the operational risks of deploying artificial intelligence. These new services focus on ensuring regulatory compliance and providing financial protection as customer-facing AI applications become more prevalent across various industries.

Despite these offerings, the services act as safety nets rather than preventative tools, as financial and operational damage often occurs before an audit or insurance claim can be processed. Organizations continue to struggle with governing sensitive data and maintaining visibility over how different departments utilize AI tools.

Lack of proper guardrails increases the risk of biased outputs and data leaks, which may trigger severe penalties under the European Union AI Act. This regulation allows for fines reaching 35 million euros or 7% of an organization's total global turnover for non-compliance.
