CoreWeave and Nebius Group Compete for AI Neocloud Dominance

CoreWeave and Nebius Group are expanding AI cloud infrastructure with backing from Nvidia and contracts from Microsoft and Meta Platforms.

CoreWeave and Nebius Group have emerged as the primary competitors in the neocloud AI computing sector, providing critical processing power to AI hyperscalers. Both companies maintain strategic contracts with Microsoft and Meta Platforms and receive financial backing from Nvidia to scale their operations.

While both firms remain unprofitable and rely on borrowed capital for infrastructure expansion, they are experiencing rapid growth. Nebius Group reported a second-quarter growth rate of 454%, significantly outpacing the 112% growth reported by CoreWeave. Wall Street analysts expect Nebius to maintain these higher growth rates through 2027.

Despite the growth disparity, CoreWeave is projected to lead in total scale and financial stability. Analysts estimate CoreWeave will generate 26.3 billion dollars in revenue by the end of 2027, compared to 12.3 billion dollars for Nebius Group. CoreWeave is also expected to reach its break-even point sooner than its competitor.
