Samsung Plans One UI 10 Overhaul and Galaxy S27 Lineup

Samsung Electronics is reportedly planning a structural software overhaul for One UI 10 and a four-model Galaxy S27 flagship series for early 2027.

Samsung Electronics is reportedly planning a comprehensive structural overhaul of its One UI software to mark the interface's tenth anniversary. Expected to debut as One UI 10, the update may launch with the Galaxy S29 series in 2028, though some reports suggest an earlier release with the Galaxy Z Fold 9 and Z Flip9. The redesign would introduce Contextual Flow, a system integrating calendars, messages, and location services into a single view to minimize app-switching and simplify navigation.

To monetize these updates, the company is considering a two-tier AI strategy that keeps basic tools free while charging subscriptions for advanced processing and third-party integrations. Samsung has not officially confirmed these software plans.

Parallel to software developments, the company is preparing the Galaxy S27 flagship series for a January or February 2027 launch. The lineup is expected to feature four models: the S27, S27 Plus, S27 Pro, and S27 Ultra. Samsung is currently evaluating the use of LPDDR6 RAM and UFS 5.0 storage for the Pro and Ultra variants, though memory chip shortages and rising costs remain obstacles.

Hardware decisions also include a potential shift in processors for the S27 Ultra. Samsung is weighing the use of its own Exynos chipset over Qualcomm's Elite Extreme chip due to alleged overheating issues, a claim Qualcomm Inc. has denied.
