Brazil Blocks Flybondi Ticket Sales After 79% Flight Cancellations
Brazil's National Civil Aviation Agency blocked Argentine airline Flybondi from selling new tickets after the carrier canceled more than 79% of its flights to Brazil in July.
The National Civil Aviation Agency of Brazil (ANAC) has blocked the Argentine budget airline Flybondi from selling new flight tickets into Brazil. The regulatory action follows a period of severe operational failure where the airline canceled more than 79% of its flights to Brazilian cities between July 1 and July 27, 2026.
ANAC issued an ultimatum requiring the carrier to prove its operational viability or face the suspension of its primary route connecting Buenos Aires and Rio de Janeiro by August 3. The airline has grounded nearly all of its Boeing 737 fleet since June 2026, attributing the move to surging jet fuel prices caused by war in Iran.
Flybondi is facing significant financial instability alongside its operational collapse. Reports indicate the company owes over $122.4 million to vendors and has failed to pay employee salaries since March 2026. Despite the restrictions in Brazil, the airline continues to sell tickets within Argentina.
