HP Bets on AI PCs to Drive Asia Growth
HP is pivoting its Asia strategy toward AI-powered PCs and printers to offset declining print revenue and soft demand in China.
HP is shifting its growth strategy in Asia by prioritizing AI-powered PCs and printers to counter a drop in its Fortune Global 500 ranking and a 2.2% decline in total print revenue. The company attributes the revenue dip to soft demand in China and changing consumer behaviors.
Interim CEO Bruce D. Broussard projected that AI PCs, which process machine learning tasks locally to enhance security and lower cloud token costs, will account for 50% of total shipments by the end of 2026. This hardware pivot is paired with a regional investment in innovation through the Garage 2.0 accelerator in Singapore, launched in October 2025 in partnership with venture firm Antler.
Under the leadership of Senior Vice President William Michael Boyle, the accelerator has backed Wubble AI, a Singapore-based startup. Wubble AI developed real-time, adaptive AI soundtracks that are currently deployed at Changi Airport. While the company remains bullish on AI's role in the printing sector, the immediate focus remains on scaling AI PC adoption to stabilize regional growth.
