China Accuses Philippines of Provocations in South China Sea

The Ministry of National Defense of the People's Republic of China accused the Philippines of spreading false narratives and engaging in provocative actions in the South China Sea. During a September 24 media briefing, spokesperson Jiang Bin detailed a September 18 incident near Xianbin Jiao, alleging a Philippine vessel deliberately collided with a China Coast Guard vessel by ignoring warnings and cutting across its bow.

Jiang characterized the collision as a violation of international law that threatened the safety of the Chinese crew. Beyond the maritime incident, China condemned Philippine efforts to organize joint military exercises near Huangyan Dao, labeling these activities as acts of provocation.

China further urged the Philippines to adhere to the one-China principle and cease military ties with Taiwan. This demand followed reports that Taiwan planned to send a retired vessel to the Philippines.
