Woody Johnson Acquires Minority Stake in Aston Martin F1
Woody Johnson purchased a minority stake in the Aston Martin Formula One team and joined its board as vice chairman.
Woody Johnson, owner of the New York Jets and heir to the Johnson & Johnson fortune, has acquired a minority stake in the Aston Martin Aramco Formula One Team. He joins the team's board as vice chairman effective immediately.
The team did not disclose the purchase price, the size of the stake, or the identity of the seller. This acquisition follows a trend of owner Lawrence Stroll selling minority interests to international and U.S. investors, including HPS Investment Partners, Arctos Partners, and the Public Investment Fund of Saudi Arabia.
The move expands Johnson's portfolio of British sports investments, following his 2025 purchase of a 40% stake in Crystal Palace Football Club. Aston Martin currently ranks 10th in the 2026 constructors' standings with one point.
