Israel Validates Knesset Election Results Amid Foreign Interference Probe
Supreme Court Justice Noam Sohlberg declared the 26th Knesset election results valid despite an ongoing investigation into suspected foreign funding used to influence voters.
Supreme Court Justice Noam Sohlberg, acting as chairman of the Central Elections Committee, announced Sunday that the results of the elections for the 26th Knesset are valid and reflect the will of the voters. The validation occurs as a joint investigative team—comprising the Shin Bet, Israel Police, and the State Attorney's Office—examines serious suspicions that foreign actors provided funding to influence the electoral outcome.
Sohlberg acknowledged the gravity of the allegations but stated that the evidence currently available does not undermine the nationwide results. He was supported in this determination by Attorney General Gali Baharav-Miara and Shin Bet Director David Zini.
The electoral process will proceed as scheduled. Official results are set for publication on Wednesday, at which point they will be submitted to President Isaac Herzog.
