Israeli Forces Allegedly Used Axon Tasers to Torture Detainees
Israeli forces allegedly used Axon Enterprise electroshock weapons to torture Palestinian detainees between 2024 and 2025, according to a joint investigation by the Guardian and ARIJ.
An investigation by the Guardian and Arab Reporters for Investigative Journalism alleges that Israeli forces used Taser electroshock weapons to torture Palestinian detainees between 2024 and 2025. Former detainees report being tied up and subjected to repeated electric shocks, sometimes while being doused with water to increase the pain. These weapons were manufactured by the U.S.-based company Axon Enterprise, which reportedly continued supplying equipment and showcasing new models to Israeli security agencies as recently as June 2025.
The UN Committee Against Torture reported in November 2025 that torture and ill-treatment in Israeli facilities escalated sharply following the events of October 7, 2023, including reports of genital electrocution. While the Israel Defense Forces maintains that the abuse of detainees is strictly prohibited, an internal investigation by military advocate general Itai Ofir confirmed that five soldiers used a Taser to torture a detainee at the Sde Teiman camp in July 2024.
Human rights organizations, including Amnesty International, have called for restrictions on the export of electric shock devices. The allegations involve multiple sites, including Ofer Prison, Gilboa prison, and the Sde Teiman detention camp.
