BJP Appoints 77 State In-Charges to Reshuffle Organization

The Bharatiya Janata Party executed a nationwide organizational reshuffle on September 24, appointing 77 new state and Union Territory in-charges and co-in-charges. Approved by national president Nitin Nabin, the appointments take effect immediately and aim to strengthen party management and political outreach ahead of upcoming elections.

A central feature of the reshuffle is the increased representation of women, with 26 women leaders appointed to the new team. This move shifts women from specialized wings into mainstream organizational roles, providing them with nearly one-third of the state-level command structure. The party linked these appointments to the Nari Shakti Vandan Adhiniyam, which mandates 33 percent reservation for women in the Lok Sabha and state legislative assemblies.

Specific leadership changes include the appointment of Satish Poonia as in-charge for Jammu and Kashmir, with Reena Kashyap as co-in-charge. In Himachal Pradesh, Shrikant Sharma was retained as in-charge, joined by co-in-charge Darshana Singh. In Northeast India, Mangal Pandey was named in-charge for Assam, Mriganka Deb Barman for Tripura, Rajdeep Roy for Manipur, and Kanad Purkayastha for Meghalaya.
