Kenya Airways Tyre Failure Disrupts Cape Town International Airport
Kenya Airways flight KQ784 blocked the primary runway at Cape Town International Airport after a tyre failure, forcing arriving flight diversions.
A Kenya Airways flight suffered a tyre failure during landing at approximately 3:25 p.m. on Tuesday, causing significant operational disruptions at Cape Town International Airport. The disabled aircraft, flight KQ784, blocked the facility's primary runway, which forced all arriving flights to divert to alternative airports.
While domestic departures remained on schedule, the airport temporarily suspended international wide-body departures to facilitate recovery operations. Airports Company South Africa coordinated with the airline and other stakeholders to clear the runway and restore normal flight operations.
Airport officials advised passengers to verify their flight status through the airport mobile app or directly with their airlines before traveling to the terminal.
