Amit Shah Approves ₹2,117 Crore for Flood-Hit States

Union Home Minister Amit Shah approved the advance release of ₹2,117.85 crore from the State Disaster Response Fund to assist seven states struggling with the 2026 monsoon floods. Odisha and Gujarat each received ₹500 crore, while Maharashtra was also allocated ₹500 crore. Himachal Pradesh received ₹193.95 crore and Odisha received ₹500 crore as advance second instalments, whereas Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Gujarat, and Maharashtra received advance first instalments via relaxed documentary requirements to expedite resource availability.

To evaluate the impact of the disasters, the government deployed Inter-Ministerial Central Teams to Arunachal Pradesh and Assam, with a team being formed for Nagaland following a state request. The Government of India is further augmenting relief efforts through the pre-deployment of National Disaster Response Force teams and logistical support from the Ministry of Defence.
