OpenAI Terminates Cursor Partnership After SpaceX Acquisition
OpenAI is ending its partnership with AI-coding agent Cursor following the company's acquisition by SpaceX, citing concerns over contract compliance.
OpenAI announced it will terminate its partnership with the AI-coding agent Cursor after the tool was acquired by SpaceX. The company set a proposed shutoff date of November 12 to wind down the existing contract.
OpenAI based the decision on a lack of confidence that SpaceX would adhere to its terms of service. The organization specifically cited a history of Elon Musk's companies violating contracts as the reason for the termination, stating, "We are making this choice because we cannot be confident that SpaceX will use our technology within our terms of service, based on our experience with Elon Musk’s companies violating contracts."
