More than two dozen lawmakers requested that the Federal Aviation Administration pause the implementation of a new artificial intelligence tool designed to assist air traffic controllers in the Washington, D.C. area. In a letter sent Tuesday, the group expressed concerns regarding the safety of the pilot project.
Democratic Representatives April Delaney, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, and Don Beyer co-authored the request. The lawmakers stated they have not seen any safety evaluation or testing reports for the tool. Additionally, they noted that the agency has not informed them of efforts to train aviation safety personnel on how to use the technology properly.
