Instinct AI Agent Faces Performance Failures Amid Meta Competition

AI startup Instinct is experiencing task failures and slowdowns due to infrastructure limitations while facing public criticism from Meta's Chief AI Officer.

Users of the personal AI agent startup Instinct are reporting significant performance slowdowns and failures in completing core tasks, including missing email notifications. The startup, which launched in August to provide services such as booking hotels and contacting insurance companies, is struggling with scaling issues due to a lack of owned data centers and computing infrastructure.

This infrastructure gap puts Instinct at a disadvantage compared to its primary competitor, Meta's Muse. Meta Chief AI Officer Alexandr Wang has mocked the startup's performance, claiming Muse is faster and referring to the company as Insect.

Instinct founder Noah Shinn previously acknowledged similar response delays last month. While some venture capitalists suggest that Instinct and Muse have reached feature parity in terms of capabilities, the disparity in computing resources continues to hinder Instinct's ability to maintain consistent service quality.
