TSMC Dominates AI Chip Market With 90% Advanced Node Share
Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company controls nearly 90% of the advanced chip market, reporting significant revenue growth driven by AI demand from Nvidia and AMD.
The Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company (TSMC) has become the primary manufacturing backbone for global artificial intelligence infrastructure. The company currently controls approximately 73% of the pure-play foundry market and nearly 90% of the market for the most advanced nodes, maintaining a competitive advantage in yield and volume over rivals Samsung and Intel.
Financial growth has accelerated alongside the AI boom. TSMC reported 2025 revenue of $122 billion, while revenue for the first half of 2026 grew 37% year-over-year to $76.1 billion. Management has raised its long-term revenue growth outlook to at least 25% and expects AI-accelerator revenue to compound in the mid-to-high 50% range through 2030.
While chip designers like Nvidia and Advanced Micro Devices capture significant public attention, they rely on TSMC to manufacture their silicon. Nvidia has emerged as the company's largest customer this year. To support this growth and mitigate geopolitical risks associated with its home base, TSMC is incurring significant costs to build new fabrication plants in the United States.
